Liz Gaffney
I moved to the Scottish Highlands in 2012 from Ayrshire and  I felt instantly at home.
I brought with me my passion for felt making and a range of skills including millinery, floristry, fashion and design, and spinning and weaving, and moved, with my partner Graham, into the almost derelict Dalmally Railway Station, a beautiful Victorian building which had been standing empty for over thirty years .
Over the next few years we concentrated on restoring the station to its former glory and making it our home and my studio.
We even found time to marry on the station platform !
We also run an airbnb at the station and raise our own sheep
Heartfelt Studio has been in business since 1995 creating and teaching the skills of felt making with sheep wool.
I work a lot to commissions , some, like The Highgrove Florigellium and Transylvanian Florigellium book covers have spanned over 10 years.
I have worked internationally exhibiting and teaching in Mongolia, Norway, Slovakia, Iceland, Ireland and represented Scotland in Philadelphia, USA in 2011.
In 2018 I collaborated with a local artist to launch Book Cover Bears -delightful handmade ecological wool bears.
In 2020 I am teaching at the Dornoch Wool Festival and in Iceland at the South Iceland Wool Festival and many places around Scotland as well as in Heartfelt Studio at Dalmally Railway Station.
